These deep holes drilled by industry were logged between March and June, 1980, by Wilson McClung and Sam Dashevsky as part of the Virginia Tech Geothermal Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy. The base of the Coastal Plain sediments is clearly marked by the abrupt change in the slope of the temperature versus depth profiles on all three wells. The temperature at a depth of about 2,000 m in this area can be expected to be about 50 C.
