"I am grateful to Mildred Memitt for all of the time that she spent helping me with DISCO programming, to Bob Montgomery for maintaining the VAX 11/785 and to John Wonderley for assistance on the IBM PC."

Note received from Phil February 9, 1999. "What can I say about Mildred? She is the woman who taught me to DISCO - use Digicon Interactive Seismic COmputer software that is :) She was one of the first friendly faces that I met when I came to the department in 1990. And as is her style, she couldn't be helpful enough in getting me going on the VAX. She spent more hours than I would care to guess helping me and all the grad students demux and prepare our seismic data. I am quite certain that I would still be in Virginia trying to work out the geometry on line CF-1 if Mildred wasn't there. One of the things I remember best is regularly enjoying a cup of coffee and chatting about the day's events with Mildred, John Wonderly, and Bob Montgomery in the workroom on the first floor. We all enjoyed our java! It's hard to believe that I've been out almost 7 years. I often think about my time spent at VA Tech and the wonderful people that I met while I was there - Mildred, you are one of them! I wish you a long and happy retirement. God Bless."
